Events of the day

I had a nice little treat - Mamaw was nearby at lunchtime and picked me up for lunch.  She is such a sweetheart!

It is Jon and Ben's 12th birthday on 12/12/12 - Happy Birthday to our favorite nephews!  What a special blessing you both are!

Grampa should be going home today -praying for both of you - get some rest!

I'm fighting a cold that is perking it's ugly little head up - vitamin c and tea!  I've also heard that oregano and b-12 does wonders in kicking it!

Background check is tonight - please pray all goes well!

Thank you Lord for more days with

Grampa.  We had a little scare today and are so thankful that Grampa is ok.  We get so busy that we sometimes forget the treasures we have around us!  We love you very much Grampa and Gramma and want you to know how much you mean to all of us!  Thank you for all you do and all that you are!  Thank you for staying active spiritually, mentally and physically.  Please do what the Dr. says and get well.  Sounds like we may need to have a "stepping" competition between everyone to get us all a little more active!

Easy Dinner

If you haven't tried them you should - Bear Creek Soup Mixes!
They are delicious and oh, so easy to make.
Boil water - add the mix and let it cook about 10 minutes.
We really like the cheesy potato and often add onion, jalapeno and diced ham!

Naps

I took a nap today which I don't usually do - then got busy with laundry!
I wiped down the car windows and cleaned out my car before picking up Midge.
The boys watched football - and yay - the Cowboys won!
It was a nice Sunday

Cookies, Cookies

Tonight we did some baking -
Hidden Treasure Cookies and
Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Ran to the store and got the stuff for a veggie/meat/cheese tray

My back is killing me - not sure what I did!  I'm walking around like an old granny!

Homemade Pot Pie

I baked up 2 pot pies tonight and did something a little different.  Charles made a big batch of the stuffing for the pork loin a few days back.  I knew we either needed to use it or pitch it.  I threw it in the mix with the other fillings.  One thing in the stuffing was walnuts.  Let's just say he was not too crazy about having nuts in his pot pie.  Oh well - it was worth a try - one thing that he has definitely taught me is to think outside the box in the kitchen and experiment a little.  Sometimes you hit the jackpot and other times it is a dud....we had mixed reviews about this little experiment - and probably wont repeat it! ;0p

Tried another Cookie

We stayed home tonight.  We made a batch of pistachio cookies to test for this weekends cookie exchange.  They were good.  I  am going to add a little chocolate drizzle or dipping to see if it adds anything to them.

New for us chair in the living - it is a comfy rocker!

zzz

what a week!  I am exhausted - such a busy time of the year.  We had a nice evening together with all of us - leftovers and a new episode of Once upon a Time!   I'm hitting the hay - good night!

New monitor has been added to their computer - of course - it is getting tested this evening ;0)

Don't you just love this time of the year?

I love fall and I love winter.  It is just fun to pull out the tree and the decorations and make the house festive.  We pulled out our advent calendar the other day and I have been filling it day by day.  If you think of anything fun I can put in it for a day let me know.  The boxes are about 1" x 1".  It takes a little creativity.  So far we have had a jolly rancher hard candy, peppermint pop rocks and reindeer lollipops.

Stuffed Pork Loin

Charles is going to make a stuffed pork loin, black beans and his famous rice this weekend.  We went shopping to pick up the ingredients this morning.  One store we went to was Aldi.  Another random act of kindness - passed on our buggy and let the cutest little 4-5 year old energetic boy keep his quarter for something else (reminded me of Chuck).

Becca is getting back into drawing - here is what she did tonight

We all watched a movie we bought from Lifeway called Paranormal.  It was pretty good - more of a biblical slant to the recent trend in movies regarding the paranormal.  It prompted a conversation with the kids on the reality of it and not dabbling in it.
